In 1968, Lincoln recorded  his first direct-to-disc project, Lincoln Mayorga & Distinguished Colleagues, Volume I
for his newly formed audiophile label, Sheffield Lab; a company, formed in partnership with Doug Sax.
The recording was the first of its kind and introduced audiophile listeners to the cutting-edge combination of modern
direct-to-disc techniques and acoustic instrumental color. Lincoln, featured as pianist- arranger- composer,
highlighted the brilliant musical talents of musicians working in the LA studios.
The Brahms-Handel Variations,
Lincoln's first direct-to-disc classical recording for solo piano, was released in 1976.  TownHall Records,  the parent
company of Sheffield Lab, was created in 1964 and still offers studio recordings by Lincoln and other innovative artists.
